UNSPOKEN OF

The workshop is developed to generate emotions and special states of mind that relate to the affective territory of shame, so specific to the preadolescent age. UNSPOKEN OF is a performative interaction in which the child-performer and the cultural educator imagine various stages of framing a body, of revealing hidden emotions, of confronting anxieties and untouched feelings, as well as of opening up the conversation with pre-teens about who they are and who they become at various ages.

UNSPOKEN OF goes deeper and deeper into the emotional field of embarrassment and shame in situations such as the following: When you are a child and the eyes of the others gaze at you. When you are a teenager and you feel your body is too large or too narrow for you. When you are an adult and you would like to vanish in the air.
Finaly, through educational and performative approaches, UNSPOKEN OF gives birth to a new body – a relaxed and fluid body, related to a relaxed and fluid self, in which intimate discoveries are more important than anything.

With an interactive and fluid approach, the workshop UNSPOKEN OF has been created and staged by a team of members and collaborators of the Da'DeCe Association: the playwright and curator of the show Mihaela Michailov, the cultural educators Alexandra Cucu and Iulia Iordan, the actresses Nicoleta Lefter, Katia Pascariu and artist Aurora Kiraly and with the support of Association’s consultants: the psychologists Otilia Mantelers and Mihai Iacob and the facilitator Codruţa Cruceanu.

Even if the workshop was designed having in mind the framework of the Contemporary Art National Museum, it can be adapted to new environments. The educators tackling the fears and sentiments of the pre-adolescents would benefit from training kits and activities developed throughout the European project.
